automated Sunless Tanning

All waxing, shaving, sugaring, manicure and pedicure services should be done  24-48 hours before your Spray tan appointment. 

Take a shower and exfoliate using an oil-free scrub along with a scrub mitt, luffa or wash cloth the day prior to your appointment. Be sure to focus on areas that tend to be dry such as hands, feet, elbows and knees. It is imperative to remove product buildup, body oils and dead skin cells in order to allow the DHA in the spray tan to react with the amino acids in your skin. The spray tan will NOT 100% develop if any barriers are on the skin. 

Avoid any bar soaps (Dove, Olay, Panteen, Dial) products before and after tanning. These products tend to create a barrier on the skin. 

Please do not shower or shave right before your appointment as the heat/steam will open your pores and can adversely affect the tan by not allowing total absorption of the tanning solution. The solution will also settle in your pores and cause a black freckled look. 

Please avoid all lotions, deodorants, makeup, or oils the day of your appointment. 

Your tan will take 6-8 hours for the standard solution and 1-4 hours for the rapid to develop, so please avoid sweating, showering or getting wet until that time as you will risk washing off the spray tan. If you tan using an Instant Cosmetic Bronzer, please don’t be alarmed as the Instant Cosmetic Color will wash off in the shower, but the color produced by the DHA will remain.

YES! According to the American Academy of Dermatology, the most effective products available are sunless or self-tanning products that contain dihydroxyacetone (DHA) as the active ingredient. DHA has been used in cosmetic preparations for almost 30 years and was listed with the FDA in 1973. It is declared safe and suitable for use in cosmetics and drugs used to color the skin. DHA is derived from glycerin (vegetable origin), which is a commonly used cosmetic and food ingredient. DHA is not absorbed into the body and poses no possibility of toxicity.

DHA, (Dihydroxyacetone) is often derived by plant sources such as sugar beets and sugar cane and by the fermentation of glycerin. The DHA reacts with the amino acids in the dead layers of the skin. The DHA combines with the amino acids to form brown colored melanoid. It is not absorbed into the body and it is non-toxic.

Most people are suitable to have a spray tan. We suggest that pregnant women consult with a doctor prior to scheduling an appointment.

YES!! There is no SPF protection from a spray tan. You will not be protected against UV rays and will still burn.

It will last anywhere from 5-9 days, depending on how diligent you follow post tan instructions and moisturizing. For the best results possible, make sure to ask about our home care regimen.

The key to a long lasting sunless tan is to keep tanned skin hydrated. Apply lotion daily (even twice a day for dry skin!) and try to avoid very hot showers, pools, hot tubs and harsh cleansers which can dry out skin. Also, avoid intense scrubbing or exfoliating as it will remove the outer layer of skin and make your tan fade more quickly.

Immediately, after you spray there is a chance that the cosmetic bronzer may transfer to clothes and sheets, but after your first shower this chance is minimal to none. To minimize the chance of the tint transferring to clothing, we recommend that you wear loose-fitting, darker clothes after your spray session. The cosmetic tint is water-soluble and will wash out of most fabrics. After the first shower and the DHA has developed – you can wear whatever you like!

Although the bronzer is water soluble and washes out of most fabrics, it can stain leather and nylon. We recommend wearing long, loose, dark clothing after your session to avoid possible smearing or smudging. (No jeans, yoga pants, sports bras, or tight tops). Wear flip flops if the weather permits.

Rain Note: If it is raining the day of your appointment, it is recommended that you bring an umbrella and/or wear protective clothing (long pants, long-sleeved shirts, and shoes that cover your feet, but are not tight). 

If you are attending a wedding, party, or other special event, you should be spray tanned one or two evenings before the actual event. You should give yourself at least 24 hours before the event-- this allows time for the tan to fully activate and settle. You also have at least two showers to remove bronzers that may be left on the skin so as not to stain your garment for the event.
